Isaac Roberts - July 2012 - Wollawa

Search for missing man continues

Search for missing man in eastern Oregon homicide case

Posted: Aug 29, 2012 5:32 PM PDT Updated: Aug 29, 2012 5:36 PM PDT
WALLOWA COUNTY, OR (KPTV) - Police in eastern Oregon believe a man initially reported as missing may have been killed.
Isaac Roberts, 40, was reported missing by his wife on July 29.
He traveled to Wallowa County for the Chief Joseph Days Rodeo from Coeur d'Alene, ID, on his motorcycle. After arriving in that area, police believe he met up with at least two people from Union County.
They are considered people of interest in this case, but their names are not being released.
The case is now considered a homicide investigation.
Roberts is a white man, 6'3" tall, 215 pounds with ash-blonde hair, green eyes and a long goatee without a mustache.
He has a large upper arm tattoo.
He was last seen wearing Harley Davidson gear, including a shirt, vest and skull cap.
Anyone with information about Roberts is asked to call police at  541-963-7174  or email crimetips2OSP@state.or.us.
By Rocky Wilson
Wallowa County Chieftain

A 40-year-old man from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, who rode by motorcycle to Wallowa County for the Chief Joseph Days weekend, has not been seen since Saturday, July 28. The last two confirmed sightings of Isaac Roberts, according to Wallowa County Undersheriff Steve Rogers, were of Roberts walking along Highway 3 between mile-posts 22 and 20, and about five miles north of Snow Hollow Hill. Those sightings were at noon and 4:30 p.m., July 28. Rogers says Roberts and a man Rogers preferred not to name were traveling by vehicle heading north July 28, when the vehicle ran out of gas. The other man hitchhiked back to Enterprise, got gasoline, and found Roberts waiting for him.
The man Undersheriff Rogers wished not to name told the county sheriff Roberts refused to accompany him back to Enterprise. Rogers said Isaac Roberts asked the man to take care of his motorcycle and belongings, and he was going to continue on to Coeur d’Alene.
Roberts is a 1990 graduate of Joseph High School and, according to his younger brother Shilo Roberts, of Oklahoma, not in the best of health. Shilo said his brother is suffering from asbestos damage to his lungs and “can’t walk more than a mile before sitting down.”
Rogers said he deployed the Wallowa County Search & Rescue team to the North Highway, with dogs, for two days of searching. He said footprints and a hat were found.
A reported sighting of Isaac Roberts at Boggan’s Oasis, where Highway 129 crosses the Grande Ronde River at the bottom of Buford and Rattlesnake grades, was determined to be inaccurate, Rogers said.
Rogers lists the search as an “ongoing observation” and says he has no reason to suspect foul play.
Shilo Roberts applauds Undersheriff Rogers for his efforts, yet has a differing opinion in regards to foul play. Shilo says he cannot comprehend why his older brother would refuse a ride back to Enterprise. Another point of suspicion Shilo addresses has to do with the last phone message placed on Isaac’s cell phone.
According to Shilo, Isaac phoned his wife Friday night, July 27; said he would be back in Coeur d’Alene in time to drive one of his sisters to the airport Saturday; and that Isaac’s cell phone has remained silent since that Friday night call.
He says Isaac and his wife, who first reported Isaac missing from Coeur d’Alene, are very close and rarely separated. That lack of communication raises more suspicion for the younger brother.
Another oddity of the case, according to Shilo Roberts, was a text he received from a sister in San Francisco on August 6, nine days after Isaac was reported missing. She told Shilo in that text she had just gotten off the telephone with the police department in Lewiston, Idaho (through which Isaac would have traveled en route to Coeur d’Alene) and they had not been notified that Isaac Roberts was missing.
Undersheriff Rogers said information on the Roberts case was sent electronically to Lewiston and other related police agencies, but added that an officer would need to discover the information and broadcast it according to that department’s policies.
“This is not an amber alert where it would surface automatically,” he said.
Anyone with information about Isaac Roberts is encouraged to call the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office at  (541) 426-3131 .

MEAD, Wash. - Deanna's parents are very worried about their 16-year-old, Deanna Stenzel. They told me they have not heard from her since the end of July. Her dad, Mark, said that she had plans here in Spokane. She just got a job and had a list of things she wanted buy however her parents don't know where she is.
Deanna had a relationship with 35-year-old Max Johnson that started online. The Stenzel's tried to stop the relationship but Deanna kept talking to Johnson anyway. Her parents think Johnson has traveled to Spokane to see her recently. They found a kissing booth picture with Deanna and Johnson. The time stamp on it was from mid-July.

In Loving Memory - James Lund - August 2012 - Portland

http://media.oregonlive.com/portland_impact/photo/lund-jamesjpg-bfcd195e2cbff96b.jpg

Sadly James has been located deceased.

Via Oregonlive

A 42-year-old Portland man was reported missing by family members on Friday after he went for a drive alone and didn't return, police said.

James Lund was last seen on Thursday, when he told his family he was planning to take a drive within Mount Hood National Forest. Lund did not specify where he was going, police said.

Cellphone records reviewed by detectives indicate Lund may have been west of Highway 26, northwest of Warm Springs, at some point after he left home.

Lund had at first mentioned visiting Ape Cave in Washington State near Mt. St Helens, but changed his mind and said he wanted to stay within Oregon, family members told police.

He has been known to frequently visit areas south of Government camp and the Bagby Hot Springs area, police said.

Lund's family told police it was very unusual him not to contact them or return home at the end of the day.

The Warm Springs Police Department assisted Portland police in the search, but found no signs of Lund or his vehicle in the area.

Lund is described as 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with receding short-cropped blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve black knit jacket with a zipper over a black T-shirt, blue jeans and black and gray tennis shoes. He also is said to be wearing a cream-colored baseball cap with a red, white and black logo on the front.

Lund is believed to be driving a black 2005 Honda Element SUV, with the Oregon license plate number 294BSY.

Anyone with information about Lund's immediate whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Mike Weinstein of the Portland Police Bureau at  503-823-0446 .

SALEM -- Searchers were looking for a man who was separated from his party while hiking in a remote area of the Willamette National Forest on Thursday, deputies said.
Ronald Ohm, 52, was hiking with two people from the Portland area on a ridge above Russell Lake just north of Mt. Jefferson Thursday afternoon. Ohm lingered behind to take some photographs while the other hikers went ahead to establish a camp at the lake. Ohm never showed up at the camp, said Don Thomson with the Marion County Sheriff's Department.
Ohm's hiking partners failed to find him Friday, so they hiked out in the evening to call for help from authorities, Thomson said.
Forty searchers, including horse-riding posse members and others using SUVs and ATVs, were involved in the search. Searchers cannot try to locate Ohm by phone because cell coverage in the area is non-existent, Thomson said.
Ohm is an experienced hiker familiar with the area who was equipped with supplies that would last him through Sunday, Thomson said.

Missing Person Checklist

Although every state and city are different in how they handle missing persons cases, these are some simple guidelines that can help you get the ball rolling.

1.  Don't let yourself hold back on making a report out of worry that you are over-reacting.  The worst thing that can come of that is someone being mad that you were looking for them.  It is a whole lot better than waiting too long and losing any kind of trail they might have left.

2.  Make a report.  The police have to take a missing persons report.  If there is any kind of waiting period, use that time to call hospitals, friends, gas stations and jails in the area your loved one went missing.

3.  Make a list of items that the person may have left behind that they would usually have with them.  Also try to obtain their license number if their vehicle is also missing.

3.  Take to social media.  If you need help, send an email to oregonmissing@gmail.com and I will get the word out via facebook and twitter.  You can also make a page for your loved one to keep everyone informed.  This is especially helpful if you don't share all of the same mutual friends.  Anyone can join a page and that can increase the amount of people that can share the story, ask questions and distribute pictures.

4.  Keep notebooks around the house.  These will prove invaluable if your loved one goes missing for an extensive period of time.

5.  When the report has been accepted by the local law enforcement, make sure you get the case number.  In any communications with law enforcement, it is helpful to always include the case number.  It provides a much quicker reference for them to be able to look up the case.

6.  Ask the LE (law enforcement) to enter the case into NCIC and get that number as well.

7.  Ask the LE to enter the case in to NAMUS.

8.  There are many organizations that can help you create a missing person flyer.  Oregon Missing Persons is not an organization but can help create an informative and helpful flyer.  If you create your own, be careful to resist putting suspects names on the flyer.  In the midst of your tragedy, the last thing you need is a defamation case against you. Also, refrain (and I know how hard this is) from putting your own personal information out there on flyers.  There are predators that will take advantage of your personal information.

9.  If your loved one is missing in Oregon we can setup flyer distribution events and vigils.  Just let us know.  You can find us on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/OregonsMissingPersonsBlog and let us know when and where you'd like the event to happen.

10.  Setup a facebook page.  I know a lot of people resist social media, but the truth is, it is a huge asset when you are trying to find a loved one.

Most of all, do not assume that law enforcement will do all of this for you.  They won't.  They don't have the time or man power and you will most likely need to put more into this than you previously thought.  They will do their best, but honestly their best won't be enough.

If a month or more goes by and your loved one is still missing:

11.  As the case goes on (and hopefully it won't) try to keep as much correspondence and tips via email.  It is convenient to be able to go back and find information if you didn't write it in a notebook and you can refer back if someone tells you something. You can also forward important information to your detective.

12.  Insist on the detective (if it hasn't already been done) getting DNA taken from an immediate family member, collecting fingerprints and dental records.  David Van Norman of the San Bernardino County Coroners Department has a more in depth list of what to do and you can find it here: http://www.facebook.com/notes/san-bernardino-county-sheriff-department-coroner-division/what-every-family-must-know-a-warning-and-a-guide-for-the-families-of-missing-pe/138463669551984

13.  If you are under extreme duress (and no one would blame you if you are) you can always appoint a trusted family friend to be the voice of the family.

14.  If LE haven't already, contact the media to let them know that you are still searching.  Even if they don't run a story, they will always know.  Eventually they will run one if you bug them enough.

15.  Check our additional resources page for more help with your missing loved one.  The page is under construction, but you can always email me and I will help you get more help.

You are not alone in your search, and although it may feel like it, just know that there are people who will give you support and help you through this time.
